Toyopearl GigaCap S-650

Toyopearl GigaCap S-650 is a high capacity, high resolution cation exchange resin* optimized for process scale applications, including the capture and purification of IgG as well as the polishing of monoclonal antibodies. A Toyopearl HW-65 polymeric bead has been chemically modified to provide a higher number of cationic binding sites for increased resin capacity. While Toyopearl GigaCap S-650M was specifically optimized for IgG, with dynamic binding capacities in the vicinity of 140 mg/mL for IgG, it also exhibits high binding capacities for smaller proteins. Typical dynamic binding capacities for lysozyme are in excess of 160 mg/mL. Toyopearl GigaCap S-650S has dynamic binding capacities approaching 165 g/L for gamma globulin. This high capacity, combined with the 35 µm mean particle size, makes Toyopearl GigaCap S-650S ideal for high resolution applications. Toyopearl GigaCap S-650 media is stable at high linear velocities, has good pressure-flow characteristics and will withstand back pressures up to 3 bar. The higher capacity and back pressure stability of Toyopearl GigaCap S-650 resin creates opportunities for increased throughput in downstream cation exchange purification steps. Toyopearl GigaCap S-650M media also has excellent base stability in 1.0 mol/L NaOH and shows robust clean in place properties with minimal loss of capacity after 50 X 1 hour cycles of caustic exposure also using 1.0 mol/L NaOH. BMBF-Fördermaßnahme "Individualisierte Medizintechnik"

Mit dem Thema "Individualisierte Medizintechnik" ermöglicht die vorliegende Bekanntmachung, der Medizintechnik einen eigenständigen Zugang zum Zukunftsfeld "Individualisierte Medizin", von dem ein großes Potenzial zur Verbesserung der Gesundheitsversorgung erwartet wird. In Abgrenzung zu der bereits veröffentlichten Förderbekanntmachung "Innovationen für die Individualisierte Medizin" steht hierbei die Entwicklung medizinisch-technischer Lösungen für individualisierte Behandlungsformen im Vordergrund. Gegenstand der Förderung sind industriegeführte, risikoreiche und vorwettbewerbliche FuE-Vorhaben in Form von Verbundprojekten, in denen die Erarbeitung von neuen marktfähigen medizintechnischen Lösungen angestrebt wird. Indikationsfelder können hierbei die Bereiche Herz- und Gefäßkrankheiten, Adipositas, Atemwegskrankheiten, Diabetes mellitus, Hautkrankheiten/chronische Wundheilungsstörungen, Skelett- und Weichteilerkrankungen und krankheits- oder unfallbedingter Funktionsausfall von Organen sein sowie Autoimmunerkrankungen, rheumatisch-entzündliche Erkrankungen, Infektionen, Schmerzen, neuro-psychiatrische Krankheiten und Demenz. Folgende thematische Schwerpunkte werden gefördert: Diagnostik Therapie Nachsorge/Rehabilitation Antragsberechtigt sind Unternehmen der gewerblichen Wirtschaft (mit Sitz und überwiegender Ergebnisverwertung in Deutschland), Hochschulen, forschende Kliniken und außeruniversitäre Forschungseinrichtungen. Das Förderverfahren ist zweistufig angelegt. Die Einreichungsfrist für die erste Ausschreibungsrunde endet am 30. Mai 2014 .

The EMBL unit in Hamburg, Germany, has added Wyatt Technology’s DynaPro NanoStar DLS instrument to their analytical equipment. EMBL is a European-wide laboratory supported by 20 member countries throughout Europe and overseas. The main target of the Hamburg Unit is the structural and functional characterization of proteins and other macromolecules using synchrotron X-ray radiation. The EMBL-Hamburg has constructed and runs several beamlines at the Petra-3 storage ring of the Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron (DESY). The beamlines use high energy X-ray radiation for both X-ray crystallography and SAXS (Small Angle X-Ray Scattering) to probe the molecular properties and structure of macromolecules in crystals and in solution, respectively. These beamlines are available and are actively used by hundreds of biological groups around the world.
